So sorry for your pain...really sorry for your brothers pain. I`ve been where your brother is, it`s not an attention seeking ploy. Anyhow, I hope he feels better....God Bless.

I'm very sorry for you, your brother, and your family. I don't know where you live, but I'm having a hard time reconciling why a hospital would discharge someone so soon after a suicide attempt. Is there a lack of insurance? Is the staff incompetent?

Its perfectly normal for all of you to be upset after such a horrifying incident. You and your brother first of all need a professional support system. You each need to see a psychiatrist, someone who specializes in adolescent depression would be best.

Group therapy and suicide support groups may help your family to face and cope with whatever dynamic is going on in your family that has caused two siblings to believe suicide is a better alternative than coping.

If the rest of your family refuses to wake up and smell the coffee, try to convince your brother to go with you to see your school counselor. At your age, you should qualify for any community run programs that can help address this problem.

People who talk about suicide, and those who attempt it, are usually sure of becoming a statistic if they don't seek and get the appropriate help.

Ask your parents to help you, share your feelings with them. Ask your brother to do the same. Your family is obviously in pain, and it is sometimes a shock of this magnitude that provides the catalyst for positive change.

Good luck to all of you.

ok, this is a very very serious thing, and I am sorry to say, but I don't think it's something you can get over yourself. if you were thinking of taking an overdose, it's terrible and what your borther did is even more so. the first thing you can do is to try and talk to him, but since all your family is in shock right now, I am not sure that you'll be able to do much good this way. don't do what he did! never! try to talk to your parents and definately get professional help. it's the best thing you can do. find a doctor whom you like and who cares, I am sure you'll be able to find one and go and talk to him, both you and your brother. I wish you all the best, I am sure you'll get through this.

Are you seeing a professional to help with your depression? If not then get some counselling. As for your brother you need to talk to him about how he feels and why he took the overdose. Maybe there are some family problems it would benefit you both to discuss as both you and your brother are depressed and suicidal. Are there any other siblings? If so perhaps you could talk to them..

Most people want to leave this world because they see NO END to the daily torment they face...It's completely understandable...Looking at most of the questions on this site it's easy to see that everybody just doesn't want to be alone, whether they admit it or not.

You and your brother are fighting the same enemy...And you need to rely on each other right now...If you don't back each other up, it could be either one, or both of you in the emergency room next time.

Reach out to one another...Share what's eating you from the inside out...Encourage one another...Try to realize that sometimes the world doesn't make sense until YOU force it to...We are all in a constant state of change...We have no way of knowing how tomorrow will be.

If you want to find out why he did it you need to ASK him...Make him feel like he can count you NOT to tell your parents...And don't judge him...Just listen...Be understanding and empathetic...All he wants right now is someone to listen to him...And if he's not ready to talk, come back later...But never give up...Just be patient.

Last but not least, you DON'T know how it feels to be anyone else...When you approach your brother, let that humble you...He doesn't know how YOU feel either...He has NO idea how his actions scared you today...And you don't have a clue to what would make him go that far...Don't assume anything.

Just communicate your feelings...If you didn't LOVE him so much, you wouldn't be so frightened...He needs to know that you need him around for awhile...Right now he feels alone...I know you understand that feeling...He feels like there's no light at the end of the tunnel...You've been there before.

Sometimes you can't lift people out of their "hole", you've just got to jump down in there with them until they're ready to come out.

People who see suicides have a tendency to do it themselves,I say Pray,if you actually get on your knees and with some love and faith in you pray .then things Will get better I know this for a fact.keep love in your heart and have faith.theres no pill to take, you have to have faith, faith that things will get better, show your love and concern for your brother,OK?
and you don't have to be religious to have faith
have some hopes and dreams
Please don't let all this get you down.
I will right now pray for Y'all
I wish for you & your family the very best

It happens when you feel your life is terrible and that people would be better off without you.You also feel that there is no hope of things ever getting better.

It is possible to get past it with help.

Why on earth would you want to take an overdose is your main concern.

Talk to an adult who cares regarding this.

Only then will you start to move onwards and upwards.
