moniles, sms, telephones, internet are means to communication and interaction but not an end in itself. The broken relaltionships are found everywhere as physical meetings and friendships have been replaced by format communications which is very boring, drab and dull

Very simply put "we are a product of our society". As technology changes our everyday life in society so also it changes our personal lifes, and not for the better. It follows the law of Nature; " for every action, there is an equal and opposite action" so as technology makes our lifes easier, it destroys our families. Modern technology is replacing jobs with machinery, it puts many out of work destroying their family income and putting extra stress on their family too. Maybe its way past time to return to the basics if we are to save our society, and relationships

I almost agree with Arthur W even if he has a bull shi-t degree in social psychology . I don't think we can go back to the old ways there are to many people in the world today we need tech to keep up . I think we need a change in our work patterns . We shouldn't have to drive 50 miles to get to work because it pays more then the job pays in your area that would save fuel . We need to have equal pay no matter what the job your doing that would solve people working there butts off and not getting anywhere while all the time the guy controlling the money is getting richer . And I'm sure there are allot of other things you can think of that we could change to fit in with high tech . Technology has change and changing faster and faster everyday but where still thinking the way we did 50 years ago we need to catch up

What you say is true. Personal contact is diminishing by the day as more and more people prefer to communicate over mobiles, internet etc. Warmth is obviously missing in such communications. Tsunami can't be responsible though. A disaster brings people together, as they have a common interest - to fight the odds and survive.

Ya, you are correct, there are thousands of relations breaking due to internet and other tec. advance. As far as My personnel feeling is every thing is fine as far as we utilise this facility for the betterment of our life. Any thing in excess is harmful. But it will surely take its toll over the gen x.
It is sad that today N number of youngsters are seduced and become easy prey to sexual abuse.
Its really become a fire, I mean to say that like Fire technology has also become a good servant but bad master.
As far as other relationship is considered , its true that physical meetings and friendship has its own charm and sensation. Even today it has its own value and true sense of communicating our love and respect to others.

Well said. I am sick of people, being glued to modern gadgets, TVs, PCs.mobiles etc. Life is meaningful only there is some kind of direct interaction between men.

Hmmm....you are right....actually why didn't you put up this question to someone across the table :-)

We land up spending a lot time on our needs, wants & desires.....a lot of time on what we want to be, how we want to be, where we want to go & what we want to do etc etc.

No time for others, No time to compromise.

As we keep distancing ourselves from others in the real life our realtionships just fall through empty spaces :-(
