My goal in life is to be exceptionally mediocre. I want to set the bar so low that no one can go under it.

The ability to do one thing well in life has often assured that kind of person accolades, fame and a place in our history books - and most of them did not have to resort to barbarism to achieve this. However, it is also true that for so many of those people, their life was not a happy one. I recommend a book I have just finished : 'A Beautiful Life' about the brilliant Nobel Prize winning mathematican., John Nash. This really illustrates my point, about one person gifted in one special way, had endured an existence none of us would envy. For me, the ability to do many things just adaquately will do me just fine.

I prefer to be a generalist. I like the variety it offers and the fact that it increases the connections among ideas, thus creating the possibility for discovery.
