When filling out forms, questions often ask for race (White, Black [of hispanic origin, not of hispanic origin], Asian/pacific islander, or Native American. There is never a place for mixed
people.
haf black/white people usually just consider blacks
but the half asian/white people I met considered themselves"Eurasian"
not just asian, because they look half and half, and the full blood asian people think their white, white people think their asian.
and halflatino/white people usually look very white, some even have blone hair and blue eyes.
Do you think government need to add a place for mixed people like( ''bi-racial''______and_____)fill in the box.
some mixed people would filled in "other" but I don't think most people would like to be called "other".
more and more babies are mixed nowadays.

I believe most forms have an "other" option. Personally, I don't see any real use to these demographic questions, other than to collect etnic/racial statistics. In the long run, there is no real use for most of the questions anyway. On employment applications and school applications, the agency is just trying to get an idea of how diverse their group is. Diversity seems to be a hot thing to have these days. It is a fad that will fade as more and more people interelate and mix.

The government is the only one actually allowed to racially subdevide it's population. If I was a half white/black Canadian
and anyone asked me what I was , my only answer would be to tell him I'm Canadian. If I felt black today and white next week then I might tell them the way I felt at that time. They don't like the answer ....thats their prob.

I'm not of the new and improved generation who want to stand out , be an indevidual and still remain with the crowd. I'm a man, an indevidual ,and am not into crowds.

I am called bi-racial and I look at me as just me, filling out blanks on what race I might be is the equivalent of me having to fill out what color my eyes are or my hair, it is that nominal in the face of reality of who we really are, so therefore I check absolutely nothing, I have done that for years and I will continue doing so as long as they ask me dumb ignorant questions like that on forms. You cannot tell or say or embrace one part of your heritage without embracing the other, that is the equivalent of psychological amputation. I am me and I am all that has comprised me and created me and I am happy and blessed because of it God does not make mistakes, but human understanding does all the time.

We (the US) are a big melting pot.

Pretty soon, no one is going to be 100% of one race. Many are having mixed kids, and I'm going to be no different.

My fiance is white and Im hispanic, so of course we'll have a mixed baby, and thats wonderful!

so yes, there should be another box, not "other."

Oh yes, they do. I'm half latino, half white, and just filling out simple forms like that, those questions are like trick questions. I always wonder why they don't have that option. They really should.

I think that's a good idea I'm in seventh grade and when we take standartized tests they usually make us fill that out I wish they would just take away that question, because race shouldn't matter.

think that's a question that should be completely deleted,
put in a comments section for folks that feel they need to
clarify their sub-categories (we are all human as a race)
