To be honest, you dont want the cheapest, but the best value.
Dont go for the core version. You will buy one and regret it when you want online gaming or not having a wireless controller.
The cheapest you will get a console on its own for is around £255.00 for the major high street shops but thats with no games. The decent games go for £30-£40. Which then sends the price up to £290.00.
For £290.00 you can get a std bundle which includes PGR3, Xbox Live arcade uplugged and an additional wireless controller.
The best deal i have seen is at Blcokbuster. For £299.99 you get the premium console and the following games.
Gears of war
Crackdown
Ghost recon 2
All these are top games and you can buy an additional wireless controller for £20.00 if bought at the same time.
Its worth spending the extra at the beginning because you know that in a month or so, you will want to buy more games and have to pay full price. It is cheaper in the long run to buy a bundle what suits you.

Well the cheapest way to get an XBOX 360 is find somone that bought a Wii and ask them to sell their XBOX 360. They'll probably do it within 5 minutes of thinking about it.
But for a little more work you can stand around your local Gamestop or EB or gamestore on the weekend & wait for someone that seemingly looks like their selling a 360 back to them.
And go up to them & before you go up to everybody find the person who looks the most withdrawn, dirty & drugged out. Have a crisp 100 bill waiting in their eyesight & close the deal fast.
If you don't want to bother doing this, then you can always pick up a great XBOX 360 bundle here:

Hi, well I found argos to be the cheapest just before christmas. Went to buy one for my son with an accessory pack. Booked it online, went to collect it, brough home a plain brown box plus the accessory box (steering wheel) etc. Got home opened the box and there was TWO xbox 360's in the box. True there was so give Argos a go. You may just buy one, get one free.

Wal-mart, K-mart, but really I think they are all about the same price all over. You could try Overstock.com, they are always running specials, Usually at the holidays, which Easter is coming up. But they run pretty good sales most of the time. Sometimes they offer free shipping.

have you tried the usual price searchers like:
www.pricerunner.co.uk
www.kelkoo.co.uk
www.shopping.com
These are usually the best places to find the cheapest price on the net.
