I can't remember a time when the US was more divided - some soldily behind Bush, others hate him with a passion.
What does this mean for the future of the US?
I am on the side that can't stand Bush and I hate anyone that supports him (but no comments on my opinion, because I don't care if you disagree...just read the question).

Not in my lifetime, but then I'm not that old. I think America placed ourselves at this point. We can get ourselves out of it if we want to.
Most of us are being played by the media and popular trends. Mob rule doesn't always follow the truth. Right now we are just flocking.
The change in congress should have had an effect. The battle lines should have softened, Washington should be able to work together now, but they haven't. They behave the same as when democrats campaigned to wrest away the majority.
The question is how are they handling leadership and the authority to make a difference? How are they legislating? Anything with real bite?
Even traditionally left wing media is pulling away from antics in Washington by its new congressional majority. See here: http://hotair.com/archives/2007/03/12/video-ted-koppel-talks-sense-on-iraq/
Polarization is a slogan used to snow you. If you are content to shout polarization, you're not reading or getting anything done. If you read every side of the issue, even finding information that you don't want to hear, you may see fit to change the divisiveness.
If other people aren't going to do it for you - they submit information for their own political agenda - then you must find it yourself. Flocking hurts us. Responsibility belongs to everyone. Questioning authority means questioning all of them. Not just one side.

Locking back on American historic previous we see time intervals merely like the yank Civil conflict, the super melancholy, the turmoil of the 1960's. We made it by making use of ability of each and every of those activities and we would have the skill to make it by making use of ability of this time sufficient. the finished worldwide's economic climate is a shambles terrific now. it rather is handy to evaluate that the president or good minister, has a magic wand to repair the finished u . s .'s woe, inspite of the undeniable fact that that somewhat isn't the case. In united statesa., President Obama became as quickly as employed to do a job for 4 years. on the best of those 4 years the yank persons will make a call no remember if or to no longer rehire him, or lease somebody else, (who will then additionally get blamed on the grounds that he won't be able to magically restoration all our themes.) the basis of the economic themes in each and every the US and the united kingdom is that the folk have willingly offered the super majority of our synthetic made international just to sidestep dropping a greenback, (or a pound.) until the persons chosen to shop for products which would be made regionally, there is not any longer plenty the federal government can do to create jobs at residing if the folk willingly purchase products made international. Of direction we've got distinctive issues too, we've got themes with wellbeing care, immigration and a score of distinctive issues, inspite of the undeniable fact that neither part has examined variety able at fixing ANY of those themes. So i do no longer evaluate sacking Obama will make any replace.

I remember the vietnam era and the US was pretty divided over that. I think that the overall view of war has remained somewhat the same over the last many years. People hate to see war but we do like online video game where we can pretend to kill others. We like violence in sports and we love to watch reality TV where people are subject to life threatening situations. We seem like a barbaric society at times. You would think that if killing and violence really bothered us that much, that we would focus our efforts on curbing it everywhere not just in war. But then again,,,it's our rights. The biggest problem that divides society is found in your question,,"I hate anyone that supports Bush." Find a way to remove that hate and the many other hates you have harbored inside of you and you will find how to reunite any society.

The division is a result of everyone thinking they are smarter than the next person. Nobody can tell ME that I'M wrong. We need to get over ourselves, look past political party lines, and make decisions based on what is good for the country and do what is right. Most of the hacks on both sides of the aisle in D.C. are liars who are in the pockets of corporations and special interest groups. Why ally yourself with one set of liars as opposed to the other? Revolution (in one form or another)is on the horizon if We the People don't get our government out of the pockets of big business.

I can remember once during my lifetime -- during the Vietnam era. The friction was intense, and those that disliked the war often took it out on the troops who were sent to fight it. Hopefully, we have learned some lessons since then.

Yes, the VN war..
Congress & The President both lost that war on the militarys behalf....Johnson ( the moron ) micro-managed the war and
the cowardly Liberal Democratic Congress withheld funding
forcing the military to withdraw...

Possibly the Viet Nam war time but certainly not anytime since. I am against Bush but probably not for the same reason you are. His immigration policies are treasonous.
