If I want to do a search, i.e. on Google, and I have some words I want to include, i.e. and want to exclude certain a word as well (I'm searching for science fair projects on "calories", but don't want any answers on "dieting", how to I write my search to EXCLUDE a word?

normally pre fix the words you dont not want with -
example -dieting

You want to do a Google Advanced Search. If you go to the Google main search page, you will see an Advanced Search link to the right of the box where you enter your search terms. The form that pops up allows you to specify that you want your results to be WITHOUT particular words. Type the words you want to exclude there.

Click on advanced search and there's a box for 'without words...'
