Everytime I turn it on, it goes back to Oct 2004 and is always at 1am. What is wrong with it and how can I fix it. I really can't afford to put much money in it, I is very old and probly not worth a whole lot, But I enjoy using it.

Is this button cell battery something that can be changed at home, or does it have to be done by a professional?

your battery is dead computers have a button cell battirey that holds the date and time it is most likely dead

The battery died. Yes, it is something that can be done without a tech. It be be a good idea if you got hold of a computer club or programming club or try this if there is a local high school that teaches eletronics, you might want to try them to replace it for you.

As soon as it hooks up to internet it should reset to right time,otherwise you got some other kind of problem like a battery

i'm not sure if this is true, but perhaps there is a virus or spyware that's doing that. otherwise, make sure you have all of the newest updates from microsoft.

I have herd from people that have laptops My guess is that it does not have memory maby u need to get new memory

do you have all of the updates for windows installed? go to windows update and make sure..... make sure the time zone is correct in the laptop time.. but check to make sure it has all of the reqired up dates first....
