"Black on Black" isn't the issue at all. Race is irrelevant. I don't know official statistics but I would think that amongst young people in London, black people are the largest racial group and that's why so far all of those involved have been black. Sooner or later it's going to be members of other races, because the problem lies with youth in general and not with any one ethnic group. Most, if not all, of those who have been murdered recently have died as either a case of mistaken identity or because they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and being black has had nothing to do with it.

The problem lies with youth in general, and how in today's society they receive no discipline and are not held accountable for their actions. Parents need to take more responsibility for disciplining their children. What seems to have happened is that parents have been told not to smack their kids, and have interpreted that as being "don't discipline them at all" which is wrong. For example, I was out shopping today and three kids (I think siblings, definitely together anyway) aged 4-7ish trashed the window display in New Look whilst their mother totally ignored them. These are the sort of kids that are going to grow up to become murderers - the parents don't give a damn, and they are already behaving in an antisocial manner. You may think there's no link between trashing a shop and murdering someone, but trust me, that's how it starts.

There also needs to be greater discipline in school - hell, bring back the cane if that's what it takes! I do feel sorry for teachers because they are not really allowed to discipline children in any manner at all these days. If they try to give a child detention, the parents will call the school and have it overturned so effectively the child receives no punishment at all.

I also think the age should be changed in terms of how old you are when you can be charged with certain crimes, and whether you are tried as a youth or an adult, and all that kind of thing. I don't know enough about what the legal ages are now, but I think ten is perfectly old enough to understand the consequences of your actions.

I probably sound like some old woman harping on about "the youth of today", but actually I'm only 28!!!

Just curious as to why you bothered to post this question if you "don't give a toss"?!

The loss of any innocent life is tragic but many of the killings within the black community are between rival criminal gangs and in that respect I'd be quite happy for them all to go ahead and kill themselves.

A lot of these killings involve youngsters and thanks to years of interference from the woolly minded PC brigade children are now untouchable and free to do anything they like. No matter what crime they commit it's never their fault, it's always society, the police, the schools that are to blame.

It's a fact that blacks are 3 times as likely to burgle, 5 times as likely to murder and 9 times as likely to mug - the problem is that you're not allowed to say such things, far less do anything about it. If you're prevented from admitting a problem how is it ever going to get solved.

The politicians and powers that be need to get real, face facts and take action. There are many cultures and ethnicities in the UK and this is a problem largely confined to the black community. It's extremely rare to hear of murders within the Indian, Chinese, Polish, Jewish communities etc. Time to stop making excuses and start taking action.

Sorry you don't give a toss but I do. The latest victim happen to be a relative. This is not only about gang members killing each other, they are also killing other innocent teenagers who are not part of the gang culture and for this reason we should all give a toss as we do not know if it is going to hit home for any of you.

It just did for me.

I am sure some of you here are mothers. How would you feel if your child was stabbed innocently?

I think it's just an excuse to be violent and its gone a little too far cos people are getting killed for no appraent reason.

It dont matter what age race or where you were brought up, nobody deserves to be killed in cold blood, I think its a disgrace, whats the world coming to?

It's a sad migration of American gang culture crossing over into our society.

It's unfortunate that innocent people are getting caught up in the childish squablings of heavily armed adolescents.

Sadly this is only going to get worse.

I'm fed up hearing about it, I am coloured myself and to be honest if they want to kill themselves, then so be it.
