I never really noticed all the commercialism when my mom was still alive, but after she passed away, I became quite aware of it. It's like, if I buy my mom something for Mother's Day, does that mean I don't love her as much the other 364 days of the year?

I think all this heavy marketing and the upping of flower prices is quite disgusting. Originally it was called Mothering Sunday and meant the world to young girls in service who on that one day could go home to see Mum. Today little kids want to buy Mum a present and the grabbing marketeers just have a field day ripping kids off. I can't help but feel it has all become very Americanised.

That would depend on how you view it. Do you view it as an opportunity to focus attention on some of the hardest workers in the world, or choose to write it off as commercial exploitation. Just remember that markets will exploit whatever they can and we cannot allow that to distract us from the focus of the day; after all, look what Christmas has become.

I totally agree with what you are saying. My kids make me feel special every day, not just on ONE Sunday a year. It's commercial hype totally.
