My language arts teacher told us to write a news article about the church fire.(When Ponyboy and Jhonny go in to save the children) I do not know how to start it off and I have tried everything possible. Can someone please help!!!

All I really need is like a paragragh to start from, and from there I could probably do the rest.
Thanks

Okay - you're in luck - I am an ELA Teacher and I have given my students this assignment before. Find a nice picture of a building burning on the net and use it at a photo for your article. Use a title for your article that has something to do with "Outlaws to Heroes." And then describe how Ponyboy and Johnny were hiding out because of the crime they committed but, in a strange turn of events, saved the lives of those children. Make sure you include the injury report (Johnny very critically wounded, Ponyboy minor burns and bruises, and no children injured).

I'd start it out with a "hero" headline. It's been a long while since I read that book, so I dont remember if just Johnny helped or if the other two did, but try starting out with something like:
"Young boy(s) save children in church fire"
Like I said I don't remember the details of the book, but then start off with the article saying:
A church caught fire last night at (name of church or town) while children were (reason for being there).....and go on to give details as described in the book. Hope this helps....

Well you should start it off by saying, two young boys were seen going into an old abandond church were children were in
then talk about how brave they are
then say how then suprisingly the roof caved in right when one boy came out.
but the other 1 was left in and was ended up paralized and is now in the hospital
thats the best i can do
good luck
ps i loved the book

are you saying your article is to be written as a 'news' report?
If so, you can begin with, 'In a dramatic rescue, of children stuck in a church that was on fire, two young men'.... and take it from there.....
,
if its a regular school report, you could say that .B & Jhon., reflect, children of any generation, who are/were considered latch key or from single parent homes, who have joined a gang to help fill the void of acceptance/recognition or a sense of belonging, or to escape their problems. Also, (I forgot the reason they left their town)) I believe it was to escape from something, but their leaving was just as many of us have done, ran from our problems, instead of facing up to them, and the running only caused more problems(getting hurt in the fire) yet they thought they were doing the right thing. I hope this helps a little
