the time depends on the size of the molly. the smaller ones can take between 6-8 weeks, and will generally have less, and smaller babies. the larger(older) mollies will have them slightly sooner, and they babies will be more developed and larger and she will have more of them. unless ur mother molly is isolated in a breeding net/tank of some sort, there is a strong possibility that the babies will survive beyond and hour of birth, because both the mother and any other fish who can see the babies will eat them. lots and lots of plants or other hide-outs in the tank will help if u do not wish to purchase a brooding-net($2-$5 at your local pet store). dont forget the babies need finer food.
