Unemployment in Lebanon has jumped from 14% to around 20% following the 34 day war with Israel, reported the Daily Star. Trad Hamadeh, the Labour Minister, said that the destruction of many industrial plants had led to the widespread laying off of workers. Some sources have claimed that around 11,000 people have so far filed for remuneration from the National Social Security Fund.

What can you suggest that can fight unemployment in Lebanon ?

I think educating all sectors of Lebanese society in maths, sciences, and so on, is very important and I also think that Hezbollah needs to be eliminated, in spite of their work in providing handouts/social welfare programs. Even if you don't believe this, Israel's reasons (and I am speaking as an Israeli here) for attacking/invading Lebanon over the last 30 years have been very consistent: some militant/terrorist group operating out of Lebanon (first the PLO, now Hezballah) has launched rockets into northern Israeli towns and villages. No Hezbollah attacks/threat, from Israel's standpoint, equals no reason to interfere in Lebanon. Lebanon and its people from suffered enough from war. No war, in my opnion, paves the way for economic conditions to improve.

Even if you don't support peace with Israel (which I think would be a huge benefit for both countries), I think we can all agree that fighting periodic wars with Israel is of no benefit to Lebanon.

First most companies should hire a non experienced employee or new graduated students, then offer them a salary that they can benifit from and not be broke by the first week of the month

Second, the economic living in lebanon must decrease and not increase, such as telephones, cars, food, rent, or if they dont want to decrease it, well at least make the salary wages higher than 200 usd
Third, Why lebanon is only relying mostly on tourisim, they should find something else for a change, like open offshore companies or anything i dont know , im not an economic grad:P
Fourth, stop brain drainage, come on, when the war occured, doha opened the visa for all lebanese, 20 000 LEBANESE came to doha in one month, and stayed here...

Fifth, the students studying in lebanon, must major in something that lebanon has a high demand on and not only business or computer science

I run 6 factories in the world that make cell phones. I can make cell phone factories in my sleep. I wanted to make a factory in lebanon to employ our ppl, but could not do it due to wars...if wars stop we have a chance of bringing talent back to lebanon and invest in our own country...but no, of course we all have to think religion and fight over which religion takes which post...how dumb can we be..we will lose Lebanon at the rate we are going and others will come and take it...

We can fight it by attracking people to come invest in Lebanon, but the problem is that the internal conflict between the govt. and the opposition should end ASAP!

If it dosen't the people day by day will get poor.

I can only suggest the obvious:
We have a big bucket of money waiting for us ( Paris 3) if only we can get our act together.

But no, we are too busy being stupid and fighting over petty things to notice that we are loving this country to death.

hey Kingo, this is good humus for a change.

It's mostly about what we shouldn't do.

We should not attempt to "defeat" the USA & Israel in Lebanon. If someone wants to defeat them, let them do it on THEIR expense instead. Our economy simply cannot afford it anymore.

Education. Teach people to work for themselves and nobody will be unemployed.

IE Simple way. Some mexican migrants to america grow vegetables in their gardens and then sell it at a farmers market on the weekend or to neighbors. its a good way to employ yourself and you will never go hungry.
