MudHens06, you're absolutely incorrect in this case. When you empty your recycle bin, nothing is really deleted. Here's why: Wen you empty the recycle bin, you're telling Windows to tell the computer to tell the hard drive, that the section of the hard disk on which your file is saved is OK to write over if necessary.

This is called the File Allocation Table, or FAT for short. It is a set of instructions for the actual hard drive on how to store, retrieve, and handle your files. FAT, or later versions of it, remain to be standard for countless storage devices. Hard drives, floppy disks, flash memory (USB, SD, CF, etc.) iPods, you name it.

A new version of instructions called NTFS is used in Windows computers, and, like FAT, it doesn't actually delete anything. It only tells the hard drive what it can write over.

I hope this helps answer any questions you have about files and saving.

When you delete something windows just marks the files as 'deleted' but they're not gone, even when you throw them out of the trashbin. However the files will get overwritten in the future when you save new files or install new programs.
This is why you can get data back immediatly after you delete it with this for instance:
http://www.runtime.org/
And this is why when you want to make sure to permanently delete stuff you use special tools like this:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/
This tools overwrite your harddisk up to seven times, because besides windows not really deleting you can get data back because of the magnetic imprint that's left on your harrdisk even after deleting

No you can not really delete something, once you delete it out of your recycle bin. It shreds it up in millions of files and they add up to less then 1kb put together. You wont fill up your computer. If you delete something it turns it into little files. Dont worry.

Hope it helps,
Brandon

Yes, unless you have Wipe Clean, or similar program. It "wipes" everything off of your hard drive, however, to be 100% sure, I'd replace the hard drive, and memory card, essentially the whole thing, just to be on the safe side. That's only IF you've got something to hide.
