I am having a very troubled pregnancy and I need to take a family medical leave but I cannot afford the time off work. Is there anything I can do to supplement my income while I am off?

My job does not offer sick leave.

I took family medical leave from my job during pregnancy, because I had a difficult one as well. Do you have any sick leave saved up, you can use that if you supply a Dr. note. Apply for WIC, and ask your job if they offer a position that you can do while your pregnant, you may get paid less but you will still get income. If push comes to shove, ask social svc's for help. Thats what theyre there for, they wouldnt help me unfortunatly, seems like for some odd reason they dont seem to help the people that really need it. as long as there is something medically wrong to where you cant work throughout the pregnancy you can see if your ob will write you up disability forms..and they pay you like 60% of your original wages..so you might want to try that...and i know it sucks about family medical leave..when you have to use your own time to take it ..good luck and congrats..

apply for disability, food stamps, and wic. they will all somewhat help u along the way. maybe daddy can put in some overtime or get a temporary 2nd job.

Do you have insurance through work? If you do, check and see if you are offered short term disability. It won't pay you your total wages, but it pays you a percentage,
