I have a cell phone and bought a usb cord fromt he company of the cell. Well it came with no directions or software. My computer said in one spot unable to download, but on my bar it said ready to use. But It doesn't have an icon anywhere nor is it in "My Computer" or Control panel. I don't know how to reach the cell connection. Does anyone know?

I have Windows XP which recognizes anything you plug in. It recognizes something, but then I can't find it and it doesn't recognize that it is a cell phone. It keeps asking for the software.

Hi!

You need the CD/DVD that has the software to install on your computer so that it can funtions with phone...

Go back to the shop where you purchased the phone and get your hands on the software (i mean buy it... not just get your hands on it)

Then now you can rip the CD package with your teeth although scissors will suffice if you control your enthusiasm... then load on the computer/laptop

and now you will be able to download all those crazy pics you took with you mobile to your computer and vice-versa...

You will only be able to use the mobile software with the phone... even if it appears in the My Computer window, do not open the phone there.. you will most probably not even see the phone in the My Computer window but under the Modems and Phones in the Control Panel..

Good luck..

PS:If you have a fast internet you can download the software to your computer from the phone manufacturer

These days, software is not provided because it's not needed. All you have to do is go to the home site of the maker of your phone, choose your type of phone and go from there.

This is a fine example of one of the wonders of modern technology: how you can waste all day trying and failing to do something that is absolutely of no value at all.
