Not a problem. Whiptails are in the same family (Loricariidae) as plecos and have the same feeding requirements and personalities.

It should get around 6", or so. They like a bit of driftwood in the tank, same as a pleco - something they can scrape, hide under/along - they blend in well!

I see no problem with this. I have a whiptail of that same size, have had him for about two years now. He lives in a 110 gallon community tank with other species of plecos, catfish and several other types with no problems whatsoever.

Diet is typical for a suckermouth catfish. Algae which occurs naturally and you can sumplement it with sinking spirulina discs and/or blanched zucchini slices weighed down or clipped at the bottom of the tank.

There is no problem with you keeping it in a normal tank, however if you have other fish, especially small ones, the catfish will eat them. Also, catfish grow to be large fish, so depending on the size tank you have, it may outgrow it within a short time. Catfish are bottom feeders, but do however eat tropical flake food, or you could go to your local pet store and see if there is a certain brand of food that would be good for the fish's diet.

Good luck.
