Sure, yes. There are software companies that have software that can block address' on the web where you do not want your children going. Depending on how new your operating system (Apple OSX, Linux, Unix, so on), Windows Vista can control which sites people can go to and who can go there.

Understand there are ways to circumvent this by going to what is called a "PROXY SITE". It is a site that blocks your IP address (like if you were a student and the school blocked myspace and so on) and allow the person to get to that site anyway.

there are two ways to do it. One is go to the menu bar of your browser. Click on Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites
Enter the name of the site and Click On Block button. Click OK to Exit.
Another way is to edit hosts file. If you are running win XP, login as administrator. open the following file in notepad.
C:\ WINDOWS \system32 \drivers \etc \hosts

Put the following line in hosts file:
(put the name of the site to be blocked here, appending 127.0.0.1 before each website to be blocked)
127.0.0.1 www.blockme.com

save the file.

In Internet Explorer, go to TOOLS | INTERNET OPTIONS | PRIVACY | SITES.

Enter the site URL and choose BLOCK
