If you own the property and the city bylaws allow you to cut the tree. There is nothing to stop you from selling thr wood.

If the property is yours and it is not a rare or endangered tree then if someone wants to through all that trouble for free wood, then that can per the owners posting. I had ten trees cut down from a former property, and because one was an old black walnut that could be used for furniture the tree guys gave me a great discount for taking that tree. As for the c/l poster maple trees are common, and are readily available from storm damage, so it is unlikely someone would go through all the trouble for that type of wood.

Not so many years ago my neighbor hired a tree service to remove a very large walnut tree for an addition he was building. When the guy came by for an estimate he was a little puzzled when he left and came back with another guy who went over the trunk of the tree with a metal detector. The guy said he was looking for nails that would damage saw blades. He was even more puzzled when they arrived with a cherry picker (normal equipment for a job like his) and a very large crane (not normal). They cut all the side branches, hooked up the crane, cut the tree and hoisted it over the house onto a waiting truck. My neighbor thought jeez, what a production for "only" $500. After he payed the guy he was talking to one of the kids cleaning up and was commenting on what a great deal he thought he got. The kid explained his boss had sold it to a lumber mill for $2,500 to be made into veneer. Rscott

It would depend on where you live. You need to find some one to buy the wood too. Walnut trees around here go for about a hundred bucks apiece, they use there for lumber.

If you don't live in a homeowners association, then I see no problem. Check with your county, or Parrish office to be sure.
