pet owners Beware of Iams Dog Food?

Hi everyone,
This is to let everyone know what is going on.
Last week we went to Target in Burbank CA. and bought a 6 pack of Iams canned Dog food. The gravey type. Anyway, after watching the news last night, about the dog FOOD that was making our pets very sick ,
I went up stairs and looked at the cans expiration dates. Guess what???? All of the cans we bought last week had been expired one since 2004 ! Can you believe that?????
We are taking the cans back today to target! PLEASE PLEASE
Check your expirations on the bottom of your canned dog foods!
I never thought about looking at expiration dates on our pets food, since we had just bought them last week.
We had been feeding this dog food to our pregnet dog every morning. Thank God she just gets a little teaspoon for a treat. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW THAT HAS A PET.....

WASHINGTON -- A major manufacturer of dog and cat food is recalling 60 million containers of wet food.

Menu Foods said it's received report of dogs and cats suffering kidney failure after eating the food. About 10 animals died.

Menu Foods supplies store brands to Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger, PetSmart and other retailers. The recall covers its "cuts and gravy" style food sold between early December and March. The food comes in cans and small foil pouches. It consists of chunks of meat in gravy.

The company said it's not sure what happened and product testing hasn't revealed a link that would explain the illnesses and deaths.

Menu Foods didn't immediately provide a full list of brand names and lot numbers covered by the recall but said the information will be on the company's Web site Saturday morning. For more information, contact Menu Foods at 1-866-463-6738.

Thank you for the tip, but to ease your fear a little bit, mostly, expiration dates denote when the products nutritional value are at their peak. Don't think because it expired it is poison, no, it is just that the nutritional value and freshness has passed. If the can is damaged or corroded ,and air got in that's a different story, and a danger to ingest. So by all means take it back, it's wrong they sold an expired product, and a full refund is due you, or a replacement. Again thanks for the good tip.

My cat has been on Iams cat food I looked at the bottom of the can and I have the recalled numbers. My cat has been very sick for two weeks. She almost died from kidney failure and was on iv's for a week. The vet thought she had some kind of genetic kidney disease. I will call my vet with this new information. I wonder if the company will pay for vet bills if you have a sick cat from their food.

Another responsible pet owner. First of all you should have checked the dates before you bought the food. Target should have checked the dates before they put it on the shelf. Well,
the Spanish people stocking the store cant read or speak English is part to blame but cheap labor you know, cant refuse it. Migrant food stockers. If anyone speaks English in that store find the manager and if they are American and English speaking have them do something about it.

I DO NOT trust llams dog food. Last year after my dog had llams, he got very sick (stomach problems) I heard that other dogs had gotten sick from it too. I then found out that there's some fruit in it that most animals get sick from, it was like papaya, or something. I think they should do something about this, I for one will NEVER buy llams again!

My little Dog Lisa got so sick i feed her some pouchs from Wal-Mart im ready to sue some @ss ive got $300 freaking Vet-Bill , took her to vet he coulnt figure out what was wrong her she was fine before we went on trip and i bought her the little pouchs....im so pissed.....bring on the class-action suit all you lawyers out there

I always check expiration dates. If you do it for yourself, why wouldn't you do it for your pets?
