"midlife crisis" happen for a REASON, and if you ask a hundred men why they had it, almost 100 of them are going to state that they were tired of their wives nagging, tired of not getting sex, tired of being placed last in line for their wives affection. There is an inconvenient truth here that gets largely ignored. Ask yourselves, if a man leaves his wife for another woman, what is he getting from her that he wasn't getting from his wife? And what would it really have cost his wife to give it?

From the day men get out of school they go to work, and they know and accept that this is what their life is going to be. They don't get to take time off to raise the kids, don't get to go back to work part time, don't get to go back to school... This is not to denigrate the rolls of mothers AT ALL, this is simply to illustrate the monotony that men are bound too.

So by their mid 40's after 20+ years of work, work, work, and knowing that there is at least another 20 on the horizon, who can blame them for wanting to reap their rewards with a boat, or motorcycle, or flashy car while they are still young enough to enjoy them?
