I think that beauty is best described as something you see or feel that takes your breath. It is a feeling that gives you peace even if it's for only a moment. It is something you may not always have but will never forget.

Originality within a set frame of conformity. Things that are too different and doesn't follow at least a few unwritten rules of conformity fails to be beautiful to me. Without originality then beauty is just a part of the conformed masses and it loses it's appeal.
e.g.
A friend of mine is a musician, I can feel that most of what he plays has beauty in it even though it isn't my favorite kind of music. The style of how he plays his music is different from anything I've heard before and still it "fits" with most of the music that he plays.
But. He once had to learn a "modern futuristic" something for work. It didn't have rhythm, the tunes was random, it did not sound like any music I had ever heard before and it disturbed me to no end. I failed to find beauty in it.
I can find beauty in most things around me but take something and misplace it by putting it in a totally unsuitable environment and the beauty fades away. Dead flowers can be beautiful, but put them in a wedding bouquet and they are not beautiful anymore. Let the dead flowers stand alone in the right setting and they are more beautiful than living flowers.
My husband has the "standard frame" of a man, but ask people around us and they'll tell you that he's not good looking. Still he's beautiful to me, not only because I love him, but because of those things that is different about him. His scars, the crooked teeth, the wrinkles around his eyes, ... those kinds of things. The models and movie stars and whatnot bores me to yawning tears, very few of them has originality to go with their so called beauty.

I define beauty as something very inner, something divine; that light that emanates from within...it's a wash of spine tingling sensations that take you over....this can come from looking at a simple flower, or a painting, or a bright smile, or the night sky, anything....beauty is something that moves me and transports me to a higher place, and makes me feel very glad to be alive, like this world actually has the potential to be a paradise....or really should be....this quiet joy:))

Well, I can say that beauty is something you don't learn. Generally it has a formula, a perfection, that you can't define but is obviously.
A good example is when you see a horse. If he is a good horse no matter which breed is, it will look fine, gorgeous. It probably has good conformation, well balanced and look healthy.
I guess beauty is that. Good conformation, equality, and shine (health). You can apply this for everything even a stone!

Beauty is something that is aesthetically pleasing to the senses.
Sight: could be a large hand holding a tiny newborn hand in it.
Sound: could be a melody that brings you peace or good memories.
Taste: could be a drop of water to a thirsty man.
Smell: could be freshly baked banana bread.
Touch: could be a slight breeze on a warm summer's day.
Beauty within: could be the giving nature of a friend or stranger.

Beauty radiates from within. It's confidence. Confidence in knowing who you are in and what your purpose is. It's also how you treat others. You can be Paris Hilton and have such a bad attitude. To me, that makes you ugly. Yet you can be like Ugly Betty and be beautiful. Why is she beautiful. Because she has a heart of gold. :)

I define beauty as something that reaches out to me.....because beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, or listener as it were....For me it isn't looks it's intelligence, compassion, communication etc ( on a human level)..... In music It's just something that strikes a chord within me.... that doesn't let me walk away.....or dismiss it out of hand....
In nature it's the grand scheme of things.....everything has a purpose..... I guess it isn't any one thing but a combination of things

When you feel somehow different afterwards...I hear a beautiful song or see a beauiful flower and it makes me sure that I want to keep on living just so that I can experience those things.
