Real Christians hate the Easter bunny and egg hunts. There are a lot of "lets all get along" Christians out there, as well those who compromise Holy things as to not seem "out dated". Christ is the center of Easter-plain and simple. Is the idea of a bunny bad?-no, but why bring in some cartoon character to take away from the single greatest event in human history.

Even though both bunnies and eggs are big-time fertility symbols, no, Christians are not against the Easter Bunny and egg hunts. Our church also has an Easter egg hunt for the kids.

No, I don't think so. Many churches plan easter egg hunts for their kids. I think the point for most Christians is remembering what the true holiday is about, and the sacrifice that was made for us, but hunting an easter egg or two at the same time is ok.

Different Christians have different points of view on this.

I find the Easter Bunny and Easter eggs, etc., fun. However, I keep my main focus on the death and resurrection of Jesus. I also think of, and might observe to a degree, Passover. The Last Supper was most likely a Passover seder. The NT calls Jesus our Passover lamb. Jesus deliberately chose the Passover time to die--way symbolic!

I don't know any Christians who are anti-Bunny or anti-egg hunt. In fact, my church does an Easter egg hunt every year.

As a Christian, I can tell you that I am a little put off by people referring to EASTER egg hunts as "annual springtime egg hunt." It's just like referring to a CHRISTMAS tree as a "holiday tree." By watering down Christian tradition with politically correct language meant to be "inclusive," many well-meaning folks demean all religions.

The Easter Bunny is considered bad - because it originated with the pagan holiday of Rabbitiotumus, in which small sacrificial animals were ritually decapitated and the heads handed out to children as treats.

It's exactly like Santa and Christmas presents. There are traditions that go along with the religious holiday (holy day) that are not necessarily holy, but seasonal and innocuous and fun and family oriented. It's spring, little children can go outside and hunt for eggs and have fun, and we can have the whole family over for a nice dinner and spending time together. As long as we remember and observe the reason and meaning for the holiday, those extra things are just... extra things.

Our church has an easter-egg hunt for kids every year , but we have sermon and other activities reminding kids and adults what easter is really all about

So long as people understand the real meaning behind easter, that is the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, I don't see any harm in it.
