How severe is it?
If it's a heartburn type of thing, then you may consider taking isaptent husk which is a natural fibre
maintaining better eating habits is required
avoid alcohol, fatty stuff, etc
do not lie down after meals
exercise upto 20 mins/day will help
elevate the headend of your bed by putting two bricks or wood blocks under your head-end of bed

The naturopath that I go to suggests taking digestive enzymes with each meal. She has had much success with this method with her patients. You can buy them anywhere (like WalMart) by the vitamins. They contain enzymes to help break your food down.
A common misconception about heartburn and acid reflux is that you have too much acid in your stomach, but in fact you don't have enough. Another method suggested is to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with each meal, but that doesn't sound too good to me. The digestive enzymes are just a pill. They are also inexpensive if you get them at WalMart or a store like it.

1. Reduce the amount of spices, salt and oil in your food.
2. Dont consume very sweet and warm things
3. Try to eat at least 2 hrs before sleeping
4. Never lay down, immidiately after a meal, wait 15-20 mins for the nap.
5. Milk, sour milk are easy anta-acids available at home.

If you will just totally give up all carbonated beverages, your problem will go away. Acid reflux is very damaging to your teeth also. The acid will eventually eat the enamel off your teeth. I have seen so much of this, I can't believe doctors don't know to tell their patients about it. Have you had your teeth checked?

I have found over the years of treating patients that fresh papaya or papaya juice is extremely healing for acid reflex. If you can consume this several times a day and avoid all fried foods, high fats and junk food you will feel better within a few weeks.

Yes, prilosec is very good. Ask your pharmacist what he or she can prescribe that is also good for acid reflux disease. Im always depending on my pharmacist to prescribe as they know best. bettyk

Give up the food that sets it off- red wine, cheese, fried foods etc..... dont smoke, avoid bending over. The list goes on. There are no nautural remedies that I know of other than changing your lifestyle.
