To begin with, we as a country can stop taking for granted the right and priveledges that we possess simply for being an American citizen. Secondly, we need to support our troops (that is not to say that we have to support or even like our President, but we must respect him...he is the sitting President after all!). I also feel, more Americans should devote their time and energy into "fixing" all those problems within our borders that so many of us run to other natins to fix, IE: poverty, homelessness, child abuse, rape, murder, etc. The United States of AMerica is, in mu opinion, the greatest nation in the world! Where else can an average Joe, with little tono education, work his tail off and become, oh I don't know, a Bill Gates? of Oprah Winfrey? The options and opportunites are limitless...just as long as you are willing to work for them and fight for them and NEVER EVER all others to undermine your dreams! Do our fellow Americans not realize that there are huindreds of thouseand of humans fighting and dying to get into our country? We need to celebrate all that is good with the USA, and at the same time fix all of the social ills as well. We are not a pefect entity, but we do have the abilty and I fell the right, to take care of and protect our own! The USA is always the very first nation to ruch to the aide of others during a time of need, IE: the Tsunami, earthquakes in India, the CDC running the the BRid Flu ravaged countires, etc. And while that is admirable and NECESSARY, let us start at home as I never see other countries lending a "hand" to the good ole U.S. of A. This is a GREAT question and I wish Yahoo! Answers would post it in an area that would generate hundreds of responses! To begin with, I personally feel that we should rally in D.C. and show our troops how respected and appreciated and looked up to that they really are. Yesterday, my 8 year old son and I were driving in a car and he noticed a POW sticker and Vietnam Vet sticker on the back of a car driving ahead of us. He asked what they meant and after an explaination, we passed the vehicle. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my saw establish eye contact with the driver whom he promptly saluted and mouthed the words "Thank You!" The driver follwed us to a gas station and was in tears telling me how much of a difference a response like that would have made to him personally when he got home from Vietnam. He and my son have been penpals now for 2 weeks! God, I love this country and will never take my rights, and exactly how good we have it here for granted! God bless the USA!

Seek truth. Stop ridiculous name calling and other childish behavior. Identify and prioritize issues from lowest impact to highest and work our way towards a middle ground by solving the smaller issues first to learn how to function in a forward progression as a unified bi-partisan front. Maybe by the time we get to the really big stuff we'll have a handle on emotions and actually be able to apply logic and solve the problem.
We need a moderate administration to guide the country together as a team with a common goal.
It's not out of line to say that the lessons the world is learning from the extremists in the Middle East can be applied to our own people. Extremism is counter-productive and solves nothing.

1.) Quit spending so much on credit, why because every time we buy something on credit it makes it look like our economy is doing great, which leads to higher prices, but not higher paying jobs. Also, puts more money in the wealthy's hands, through their investments. We are not all rich, and we have to quit behaving like we are. This is a Vicious American Cycle now.
2.) Re-think what is America now, the 60-70-80-90's are gone, they are part of history, what do we want to represent for the next decade? I hate change just as much as the next American, but unfortunately we have too many people from other countries deciding our outcomes now, once your an American you can vote. But the problem is us Americans are not doing the voting.
3.) We need to quit getting involved with other countries civil and religious wars, let them figure out there problems so we can work on ours. In order to lead, we have to have leadership that is worthy to lead.
What do you mean by alright? Alright by some people is totally different than another's. My alright is the 70's. But they are gone. We need to determine, what defines Americans now days.

I really thought after 9/11 that America would come together, that the devisiveness fostered by the socialists in congress would be put aside, but alas I was once again naive.
America is beset by many enemies that seek our economic ruin, the one thing that has made America great and the primary cause for those who seek our destruction. Would you prefer to become a third world country in desparate poverty and have everyone admire your socialist government or would you prefer to be the strongest economic power in the world and have people constantly after you? Me I prefer the power of a free country, an economically strong capitalist country.
So the best thing you can do for America is to go to work, create wealth for yourself and those who depend on you. Fight socialism with every ounce of your will because if you do not America will become a has been poverty stricken socialist ideal.

What is lacking is a fundamental sense of unity.
In hard times, its best to try to diminish all differences and capitalize on similarities. Even if one cannot find a similarity to ones neighbor, its best to treat all others with respect - rather than ire.
Here at YA, people are quick to criticize each other based on religion, political position, culture, race, gender, sexual identity, etc. We could help ourselves as a nation if we would stop being to quick to criticize.
Further, what has become of our sense of generous spirit? Where is the joyful volunteerism? Where is the common interest? Where is curiosity and broadening our mental strengths?
Let's come together people.

1) Travel, and talk to people..listen to people, don;'t argue with them but actually listen and make friends worldwide...don't try to force USA views on them...be an ambassador for our country every where you go...show them we as a people are good and caring
2) Don't force religion on other nations or peoples...each to their own beliefs....be tolerant
3) Begin charity at home...look around you at the elderly in need, the ones in need for drives to doctors, to ones living out from town if in a rural area
4) Bring back the good old manners ....open doors for others, smile and nod at ones on the street or ones you meet, pick up something someone has dropped for them, offer your seat to an older person or one with a child
In Athens one time my daughter and I had her 2 young children and got on a bus...a young man in his late teens actually gave his seat for us so that we could hold the children ..he said they were young and we were tired from walking..take his seat.....can you imagine that now?
If we began doing all these things, even one day at a time, sooner or later the world would be a different place.
Maybe this sounds too simple to most of you since most are talking politics and more govn't...but each person has a place that is the beginning of change.....

What is the lot of other things? Our social programs are doing fine and in fact they are well funded. I think the only real problem we have right now is the desire of politicians who are shoving the the amnesty program down our throat when this is clearly not the wishes of the majority of Americans. The wars would be going fine if we could keep the freekin hippies the hell out of it. They are weakening our stand and getting our soldiers killed.

The Best things the Republicans could do to help the United States is to move to another fascist country and leave this one alone!
Maybe they could all move to Dubai to be with their God Halliburton?
They have ruined America to the point of no return as it is!
And you can not get them to "come together" either!
Oil and water do not mix!
Lo Siento!
