The Republicans increased spending on govt by 40% over the last 12 years and set our economy up for severe recession once tax receipts slow as the economy slows. And the economy has begun to slow sharply. Why does not anyone care about this? The downside for jobs, income could be huge once this plays out as Asians won't loan us $ 1 Trillion for our annual defecit. So govt will then either have to slow spending and spark a huge recession/depression or just print worthless money--they recently passed a law to do this--and who knows the fallout from this?

No one pays attention to politics. They think its boring .That's why both parties do it. The give me generation pays attention and that's why they got the medicare prescription program and why social security was not reformed. Democrats now have power and want to do the same. People need to wake up vote these people out .

That's nice. I think most of America does care about the spending habits of the government (it's funny how you think it's the just Republicans that somehow caused this!), but they don't really know how to reign it in. So much of it is "secret", and it's been going on for much longer than my lifetime, that the frustration makes us feel powerless to change it. I'm sure that you think that the Democrats will "fix" it, but I fear that you will be quite disappointed in this respect when the next President takes over (who will most likely be a Democrat, I assume).

So, you're not aware that the federal deficit has been sharply falling along with the economic recovery of the last 5 years, so that this year the deficit will be maybe around $100 billion dollars, a good deal less than 1% of GDP, which makes the U.S. more frugal than most developed nations?

People do care. It was one of the reasons that Republicans were tossed out of office in the last election.

You really shouldn't fake a "question" in order to state your opinions. The answer to your question, if it was sincere, would obviously be "of course a lot of people care." You do, don't you?
