Is there a way for me to know if my sister is online and be able to im her?

She is with comcast and I am with yahoo also she is in maryland and I am in california

if she's not invisible,that's in the options..if she wanted to be seen online, then it's up to her settings...you can always change that...hope i helped....

download msn messenger if you both can and use that as a way of messaging, or yahoo messenger.

yes you have to add her to you messenger list and you will be able to chat with her
