I have a guppy who I suspect is pregnant, and she is swimming frantically at the bottom of the tank. Then she stops for five minutes and then does it again! What is wrong with her?

Should I take her out of her aquarium? There are other fish in there.

Remove her straight away !! B4 she has them as you will need to remove her after she has had the babie's, as she will eat them. do not put them in another tank with other fish either as they will think it's a buffet (if you get my drift) they will be fine just make sure you put them in a big enought tank to allow about 2 guppies per litre. other wise it gets to crowed and the stress and die. other then that you should be ok
have fun with the little one's !!!

Your guppy is having her babies!!! =) How big is your aquarium? If you can get a net to put your babies in until they are about a month old, that would be great. Otherwise, the other fish will eat them. When my guppy had her first babies, I just noticed little fish swimming around at the bottom of my tank. There were about eight of them. I had to take the other fish out of the tank and get out of the house to buy a net. They all lived!!!=) The second time she had her babies, I was at home, and of course watching them. I noticed her doing exactly as you described so I put her in the net right away. I was there the whole time and it was beautiful. After about one and a half hour, I took her out of the net and left my babies in. I had to buy another net. There were 52! I lost five but the other ones are still swimming around. Good luck to you!!!=)

You don't need to take a guppy to the vet.

They know what to do. Just let her be. Maybe the fry will get eaten, but mine never do. I started with two guppies, and now, several years later, I have about seventy. I never took anybody out of the tank to give birth or anything.

Just relax and enjoy the show.

It sounds like she is giving birth. Separate her now so the other fish wont have a chance to eat the fry, and as soon as it looks like she is done get her away from the baby's because she will start to eat them as soon as she has recovered.
