I have just changed computers and one of my files is unreadable?

I have just changed my computer. In my document folder I have a file where the text is unreadable I want to change it to the original text .

Find out what file type it is (you probably do not have the required reader on new computer)....then just search on google or whatever search engine you use for free reader for your file

Could be worth a try - click on file and see if you get an "open with" Then you could try opening with word, or a reader etc. Worth a try?
