I would like to know how such a remarkably talented man who put so much on the line to create a movie about Jesus Christ could show bigotry against Jewish people. Duh! Jesus was a Jew, God's chosen people.
As a Christian, I'm very disappointed in Mr. Gibson as a representative of our religion.

I guess Mel represents the other Christian belief that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. He's only human.

The problem is some people are appointing him as a 'represenative of religion' when all he did was make 'one' movie about it! He made 3 Mad Max movies but he's not considered a 'represenative of road rage & nuclear war'! He made 'The Patriot' and he's not even American. Oh my! What's that called again? Oh Yeah! ACTING! He's 'just' an actor and some-time director. He's 'just' a human being like the rest of us. If you've ever been drunk night after night to the point where drinking is a habit, then you'll know that you're gonna 'say' something and 'do' something that you just wouldn't normally do because alcholism is a disease that takes you over. Mel's remarks were very hurtful to a group of people but, and this is not a cop-out, he was drunk when he said it! I've known and been around many many people when they're drinking and things always get said without thought or meaning. That's what alchohol does. Mel Gibson is not a God, he's a person, just like me and you and he makes mistakes just like me and you. This is enough to make the man go have another drink...lol Don't be disappointed for what Mel said, be more disappointed that alchohol has so much control over this loving, talented human being and pray for him to regain the control of his life that he's surrendered to the alchohol. Just pray he gets help and learns. That's all a real christian can do. We're not supposed to judge. But we can pray ;-)

Prejudices learned at home as a child are very hard to shake, and Mel's father was famously anti-semitic. A little alcohol, a little stress, and there you go.
