I am not sure how you would prove either way. I believe that people can be born gay, but there is no gay gene. I don't think that you can be raised gay either. If that were true, in general, being raised by Heterosexuals would never have a gay child, which we know is not the case. A homosexual couple can only raise a homosexual child, no, we are just very thankful to be able to have ways to have children and be a family, we would be the last people to force sexuality on a child.

I think some people are definately born gay. A mate of mine said that he thinks he could trace it back to when he was four years old.
I also believe it is fashionable at the moment. There are loads of gay people today and I really doubt there was this many even when it was not acceptable. I think it is a vey youth orientated thing. How many 50 year old gay couples do you know? I think it is "something to try" when you are young.
It is a novelty.
Proof? Hard to say. Maybe one day, the scientists will crack it.

i think there are many reasons why someone is gay, some are born that way like me, others have had something happen in their life that convinced them to become gay, and yes some are acting gay just because it's different and they want to draw attention to themselves. the sad part is for the last group i don't think they will ever be happy in anything they do if all they want to do is be in the limelight all the time.
