I have a 1995 Buick Lesabre and it's making a rattling noise when driving now, also started smoking (white smoke) last night. Neither the check engine light or the thermostat light are coming on though. Any clue on what it could be?

The rattling noise can be a number of things. Is it pinging? from regular fuel? Overheating problems, or bad egr valve? Clogged intake with carbon build up? White smoke is indictive of water or coolant burning up internally which would indicate a possible head gasket leak, Take to a local garage and have a leak down test and compression test done so you can pinpoint your problems.
good luck........
