If you are bleeding (heavy or not) during pregnancy, it is a sign of threaten abortion. Hence, you should go to hospital immediately. There should be no bleeding at all in pregnancy period accept when the foetus is trying to attach/implant itself onto the walls of the womb. And even then, the bleeding is mild and goes off in a day or two.

Heavy bleeding during pregnancy usually indicates a miscarriage. Light spotting may be a little different, but if you need a pad, then you need to call a doctor or go to the ER.

Many women experience "normal" periods throughout their pregnancy. I went to high school with one such woman who was 5 months pregnant before she figured out that she was pregnant.

If you're pregnant and just started having heavy bleeding, you need to call your doctor or the ER immediately, as you could be having a miscarriage. Good luck!
