I think it's absolutely stupid how some Blacks throw the 'n' word around like it's nothing despite its history.
I think you should avoid using it.

If the n-word affends any one it shouldn't be used by any-one. You can't say it's okay for some but not for all. If so who will decide who get to decide who uses it. I believe it shouldn't be used by anyone black or white. It is something many people have lost there lives over like Martin Luther King trying to end racisim but then you call your self the n-word let anyone else is crazy. Your saying you don't mind your sister degrating you but if a white woman does thats a different thing. It makes no sense.

If you have a problem with the word in some situations, then that's you. If you want to use it in other situations, then do it.
Sure, it's a bad word with a terrible history, but if we continue to vilify it, we continue to give it the power to do damage.
The word "qu*er" offends some people, but a lot of homosexuals use the word amongst themselves. We also sometimes use "f*g" and other words. So what?
Most important is how the word is used. I think black men using the word amongst themselves is FAR different than a white man shouting it at a black man.
I could care less that some black people use it amongst themselves and I do NOT see that as a license for me to use it. Why do some white people have a problem with that?

Any word that is rather universally PERCEIVED to be derogatrory is probably INTENDED to be taken as such. Of course, the target may then deal with that word and deflect its power by putting it to his own uses, usually at the expense of the orginiator.
Happens all the time. Doesn't mean anyone has the "right" to attempt to belittle another.

I think that using the "n" word is ignorant no matter who is using it. The only reason the word has any racist factor is when someone uses it. It is derogatory and demeaning, there is nothing positive in used it.

Honey, the only way you'd be black is if you covered yourself in shoe polish. Have you met my husband Robert? He's a retard and you two would get along great together.

Personally in my opinion if you let one race of people say it to you, then anyone should be able to say it, regardless of their race and sex. As a black woman I don't use the word N***a to describe anyone. However, I do use the word N***er to descirbe a person of any race who is extremely unintellgent and ignorant.
