In a news story released this week, it said her mental health may be a defense in her case.

I have not heard about physical abuse as the previous answer gave. (It may be right or not. I don't know.) The news story said, "Authorities have quoted (Mrs.) Winkler as saying she shot her husband because she was upset over his constant criticism of her."

Any way, this is a sad thing to happen to this family. I can't imagine what their children are going through.

From all I can tell, the Winklers are a fine family. I remember hearing Matthew's grandfather preaching. He was (and still is) well respected. (He died a couple of years ago.) From what I understand, his dad is a preacher also.

It is sad that a family that has done so much good in spreading the gospel is now known for something as horriable as this.

I did not know any of Mrs. Winkler's family, but I understand she came from a well respected family also.

Something was horribly wrong for their marriage to come to this tragic event.
