I'm doing this persuasive speech, and i don't know how to start or how will i catch the attention of my audience and how can i retain it..oh please help me out.. and any ideas on how will i deliver it effectively? or, how will i organize my arguments? thanks a lot... God Bless.

Remember that persuasive speeches are not the same as argumentative. In argumentative, you should make a case for men as well, then refute it, but for persuasive, you should make the case that you are right enough for people to not doubt you.

Another thing to consider is the difference between leader and manager. Leadership is setting a new direction or vision for a group that they follow, ie: a leader is the spearhead for that new direction. Leaders "lead" by example, showing what is right instead of telling which way to go or what to do. Management controls or directs people/resources in a group according to principles or values that have already been established. They use the "do what I say, not what I do" approach.

You could start your speech with this definition and an example.

Another way to do it is to take a humorous approach. Persuasion is based on SO many things, the least of which are your "facts." If someone likes the personality and ease of the speaker, then the speaker is more likely to persuade. A humorous approach can get your audience smiling (or even laughing), and this will help them be more attentive and willing to listen.

I would go back to history and look at the successful matriarchal societies. Find ones that were successful and compare them to patriarcal socities that were not. Remember that in persuasive speeches, you do not have to be fair in your presentation of facts. Yes, use facts - don't make things up, but present them in such a manner that you are perceived as the expert on such matters.

This would be a difficult point to make and would likely be polarizing. I think the best you can say is that some women are better leaders than some men but you have to acknowledge that there have been some pretty great male leaders as well. It won't be persuasive if you try to argue that women are always better leaders than men. History does not bear that out.

Well, first of all it's a lousy stance, but that aside, I would look into beginning social psychology for ideas. Look into the topic of emotional intellegence to find some points. Try to do it with a little bit of humor so the boys don't get mad! Good luck, and remember that speech topic notwithstanding, it's not true. Individual traits determine how good a leader a person can be! Men and women are much more similar than different!

That's a tough one. Do some research on successful women leaders and find out more about them, use them as examples against men known to be poor leaders.

Use the idea of women being (typically) more nurturing and less violent. There have been jokes for ages that if women ran the world there would be no wars, just real intense negotiations once every 28 days (you can add some humor like that in there too...just give appropriate credit).

Good luck with your speech. I did mine (many years ago) to persuade people to sign a petition to oust the governor of Louisiana (because he was a crook). A fair many of the class signed my petition. ☺
