i gave birth to my second beautiful baby girl just before christmas, ive been trying so hard to lose weight but i just weight the same as when i came home from hospital even though i am exercising every day and being really careful about what i eat.i bled really badly after having her and lost nearly 2 pints of blood and as it was christmas, instead of giving me a transfusion they sent me home with iron tablets,so i am now aneamic and a lot of people have told me you cant lose weight if your aneamic.just wondering if there is any truth in this as i need an explanation for why the weight wont shift!

Aww hon... give yourself some time! The general rule is, it took you 9 months to get the weight on, so you should give yourself equally as long to get it off. Don't fret or stress out about it. The pounds will eventually shed. Just make sure you eat right & well (no starving yourself!) and keep up your exercise routine. I am also anemic after having my second daughter, but I was never told that it would affect my ability (or inability) to lose weight.

Give yourself some more time, set a realistic weight-loss goal for yourself, and just stick with it. Good luck!

I haemmoraged after my 3rd childs birth and was also therefore severely anaemic. I too was sent home on iron tablets for 3 months, but found it very easy to loose weight. Everyones body is different, some people obviously loose weight easier than others. Give your doctor a visit and tell them your concerns. He may be able to offer you some advice. In the mean time, continue to eat well and exercise. Drink pleanty of water and get pleanty of rest. I really wouldnt be too concerned at this stage, you are still in the early days and your body is still recovering from the birth. Good luck to you, and your new little one!

Actually, for as many as 10 percent or more of all new mothers, a condition known as postpartum thyroiditis may be the cause of weight struggles, along with other troublesome symptoms.

Postpartum thyroiditis occurs when the body starts producing antibodies during or after the pregnancy. These antibodies attack the thyroid gland, and can cause the gland to temporarily become imbalanced, usually shifting quickly into underactivity. This leaves you hypothyroid, with a slow metabolism, and an inability to produce enough thyroid hormone, the basic hormone of energy.

I've heard that you should generally allow yourself 9 months after the birth of a child to return to your prepregnancy weight. Breastfeeding is an excellent way to help your body bounce back, since it shrinks your uterus back to its regular size faster and uses a lot of calories. I breastfed both of my babies and easily returned to my prepregnancy weight 9-12 months after giving birth without any dieting or exercise. I think you are stressing about it too early and you should give your body a rest. It takes at least 6-8 weeks just to begin to heal from childbirth without having to worry about weight loss. It hasn't even been three months yet! Relax and enjoy your baby.

It has taken me 2 YEARS to get the weight off, that I gained when I was pregnant with my daughter, but i did gain alot of weight 70 pounds!!! You are not supposed to exercise too much when you are anaemic, I know because I was anaemic once from extremely heavy periods and my dr told me to get my blood back to normal before i went to the gym. Just eat healthy, get your blood back to normal (the iron pills should do this) then begin exercising, if it still won't budge, consider getting your thyroid checked, alot of times it will go out of wack after having a baby. Take Care.

Well I don't know about the aneamic thing, but you might just need a better workout/eating routing.

I am not that great at keeping up to date with my progress so I use a online service (from menshealth). It helps me chart my progress and keeps me up to date on how much I should lift each time and what exercises to do. They have a diet plan too, though I haven't used it. It lets you schedule workouts around your schedule, and your diet around what you like to eat.

My fiancee used the program below for women- please bear with me, I am just going to cut and paste their quote from the site - she has been able to keep her weight off and looks better than ever... you can always try out the free trial (link below) - good luck!
