I am interested in getting into the health field on the administrative side. The jobs I have looked at ask for RN licensing. Now I am trying to decided if I should look into picking up a nursing degree. My question is...is there a shorter process of obtaining a RN license due to having a Masters in business. Or would I have to struggle again to obtain a RN Degree for another three to four years??? Thanks for any advice....

Most of the nurse managing field requires a degree in nursing. However, you can still look for a job off of the floor and as part of administrative staff of the hospital where you wouldn't necessarily need a nursing degree. One thing about nurse managers is that there is always the chance that they may need to cover the floor, hence the requirement for the nursing degree.

If you still are wishing to work on the floor, then you would have to get your nursing degree. The question would then arise whether or not you'd need a BSN or could you get away with being a certified LPN or Associate level RN which will only take a couple of years. I doubt being a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) will be enough.

I knew someone who was an EMT who went to back to school for her Paramedic license and then decided to go into nursing. Luckily for her there was a bridge program for Paramedic to nurse and it only took her a year to get her Associate level RN. However, if she wishes to move up into management, she will have to go back to school again and get her BSN and then (probably) her Masters.

You are almost finished with your degree and you are now just looking at the job market? Not very smart. Business and Nursing are two totally separate degrees. You will need to talk to the guidance counselor about this. I am betting you will have to go another couple of years to get the RN nursing degree.

What about doing a medical course where you learn the medical terms such as Business-Medical Administration you would definately fir the criteria and you could apply for prior learning. This would lead to you being a medical receptionist. RN is if you want to be a nurse a medical receptionist sounds like what you want to do. Depends on where you live, North-West College offer this course at various locations, Anoka Technical College offer this course if you search via yahoo you are likely to find a lot of colleages that do this course and I believe this is the right course for you.

Hope this helps. If I can be of any more assistance please email me.

Your MBA will not give you any "credit" toward a nursing degree. You will have to complete the same course as everyone else.

sorry, it won't be any shorter, because business has nothing to do with nursing
