I have C & D drive
i have installed windows in c drive,
how to format it?what is required to format?

insert windows cd reboot pc and follow instructions.

If you simply insert the Windows installation CD & restart you PC the Windows setup process will offer you the option to format the C drive.

If you wish there are several other ways to do it, however, as you seem rather new to this I would recomend using this free utility which will make the process much easier for you :

Partition Logic
..... is a free hard disk partitioning and data management tool. It can create, delete, format, defragment, resize, and move partitions and modify their attributes.

Simply you can use Windows XP CD to boot with and format your harddisk.

First of all , I think you should have a BOOTCD ,
then entry the BIOS set up the first boot device,

and typing the command with "FORMAT C: \q"

Done

Hint , All data will be lost, so please make sure you have to do that...

use the recovery CD that shipped together with your laptop.

just follow the instructions.
