Assuming your adaptor is a wireless router, go through the router set up procedure in the User Manual. Then, you MUST set up a wireless network in Windows, go to My Network Places to start the wizard.

Call the manufacturer of the 802.11g USB wireless adaptor if you get stuck.

If there is no Network in range then there is no network in range. There are a few boosters you can buy but usually if your not getting anything at all a booster won't be of much help. Because then you might get 1 or 2 bars but still no connection. You just happen to live in a area where no wireless signal is in reach of your house. If its a laptop just go to any library or Internet cafe (Wireless Restaurant).
