A captive bead works on pressure, so you'll need to pull either side of the ring apart and try to put the bead back in. It is really hard to do, and near impossible with a swollen lip. I'd definitely recommend going back to the piercer to have them put the bead back in. Sometimes they'll charge a $5 fee for the time and effort.

I have the same problem, I got my lip pierced not that long ago and I can't get the ball in mine either. I suggest getting a plain stud/labret put in for now..and wait a couple weeks for it to heal better before you attempt to put the ball in again. Or just go back to the place you got it pierced at and ask them to put it in for you. You're only irritating it and making it take longer to heal when you pick at it yourself.

replacing a ball on a bcr is tricky to do yourself just because its difficult to see it, especially in your lip, circlip pliers are a big help, i would return to where you were pierced, they will help you out and you wont be the 1st, my piercer wont pierce a lip and put in a ring, for this very reason, a labret stud is much more suitable until healing has taken place, good luck 2 u

I would think if you go back to the piercing shop they should be able to help and instruct you on the proper way to care for and remove/replace the thing.

just pull the ring apart slightly, there should be a hole each side of the ball for the ring ends to slot into....hopes this helps, take care, keep it clean, good luck
