My husband who is nearing 60, (I'm more than 10 years his jnr) becomes very flirtatious with waiters, etc. He is rather grumpy most of his life and hardly smiles with me. When I ask him a question in general, he answers abruptly and smilelessly. It upsets me that he can have this un-nice attitude towards me who has stood by him through thick and thin, and give these girls smiles and be joking towards them. I confronted him last night after one of those episodes and he he got upset, and makes me feel like I'm in the wrong. By the way, I know that he likes these young girls to flirt with. Is he a "dirty old man"? Yuck!!!

Unless you want to leave him you just have to let him go on making a fool of himself.

Everyone wants to know that people still find them attractive and funny. The flirting is just a little ego boost and not a big deal. However, if he is fllirting with them and being rude to you practicly in the same breath, you should point that out to him. He probably doesn't realize it. But don't nag about it. What would happen if you flirted in front of him? ASk him.

I would get up and leave the restaurant, the dirty old man would end up having supper alone. I would probably take a taxi home, wouldn't it be so humiliating for your husband to be flirting with a waitress.

He enjoys conversing with those younger than he is because he misses his youth and he finds it refreshing. Do you notice that those he converses or flirts with are bright and energectic? He finds that refreshing. Growing old sucks and what sucks more is growing old with someone who is boring and nags all the time.

As a man, we always want to see if we still "got it". It sounds harmless. Let it be, but monitor it.
