I know just how you feel.
I am in my final year of an Egyptology major at University . It was something I always wanted to do since I was small. I work p/time and study full time.
You should have a look at w.w.w.touregypt.
It is the Egyptian Governments tourist site but it has a wealth of articles on all aspects of Ancient Egypt, submitted by Egyptologists from all around the world.
If you want to get some really detailed info., check out Jane's Luxor blog through the same site.
Jane is an amazing woman and really knows Egypt. She updates the blog everyday and always includes lecture notes from the Luxor Museum that are given on Tuesday nights.
These lecture notes are really good as is Jane's blog in general.
Another is The Theban Mapping Project site.
Also for quick reference the B.B.C.Ancient History site. There is Jim Loy's great hieroglyphic dictionary(just do a Google),and The Plateau the site of Zawi Hawass one of the world's best know Egypologists.
There is no site that offers training and their qualifications would be of no use anyway.
You can study Egyptology online through a University in some countries.
I know it is possible here in Australia, but it is very expensive.
Good Luck and keep the dream alive while you study through the websites and read all you can.
Some great books to get you going are the Complete series.
The Complete Royal families is exceptional and has been invaluable in my studies.
Feel free to email me if you want to know anything else or details.

Sapphire, you can go to all the sites that all the other fellow member gave you, they will help you allot. You know how I go started doing Egyptology, I went to book stores, garage sales, on-line sites, the library. You don't really have to have allot of money ( right know) to start studying to be an egyptologist, JUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART, IT WILL TAKE YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO BE. Just trust yourself and believe in yourself and one day before you know it your all grown up, and guess what your an (EGYPTOLOGIST).!!!!!
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter is three and developed this weird facination with ancient egypt after watching the move "Prince of Egypt". We are tunisian and the cultures are similar. My daughter even wears an Eye of Rah around her neck sent from our family in Tunis. Here are some of the sites we checked out and found beneficial.
