Cloud and Aerith had an immediate chemistry that would have grown into much more than the relationship with Tifa that took years to come to the form that we were presented in FF7.

Originally, the game kinda pointed to Cloud x Aerith; however, after her death and in the movie, more Cloud x Tifa.
