If you want to save everything, try an external hard drive. You can "ghost" your entire drive to it if you want (assuming it's big enough)

On the other hand, if you just want to keep backup copies of important files, you can burn 'em to CD or copy 'em to a flash pen.

I think the best option is to get a USB flash drive. It's one of those little key-ring looking things that stores data. You just plug it into your PC and it shows up as an extra drive.

If you don't have a USB port on your computer to plug it in then you can always copy your data onto a CD.

If you don't have a CD writer then I would suggest getting a USB port or a CD writer installed because they are pretty much essential for backup.

I f you are that concerned about your computer failing on you buy a usb pen drive and save your information to this aswell as your laptop hardrive.

It is easy to do. Just plug it in to the usb slot (you can't fail because there is only one place it can fit)

Buy a memory stick. You can get them with huge memories, you should be able to download everything onto it and it's small enough to attach to your key ring.

Buy some blank CD's or DVD's, and burn your data to them on a regular basis. Every week or two is probably fine, longer if you don't use it much.

Then coach them about copies and aliases. you should in the journey that they want to look after not straightforward disk area. i have seen human beings replica information onto their computer "to create a shortcut", then ***** they're low on disk area. after I taught them to create aliases, they were then cramming the computer with aliases. be careful.
