[8 x 10^(13)].[3.1 x 10^(16)] m
= 24.8 x 10^(29) m
= 2.48 x 10^(30) m

a parsec is 3.1 x 10^16 = 31000000000000000
8 x 10^13 = 80000000000000

31000000000000000 x 80000000000000 = 2480000000000000000000000000000 meters which is the same as 248 x 10^28 meters

hey its easy! its a simple conversion factor.....
if 1 parsec is approximately 3.1 x 10^16 meters, you can write it as (3.1 x 10^16 meters/ 1 parsec) so when you want to find how many meters are in 8 x 10^13 parsecs you multiply it by (3.1 x 10^16 meters/ 1 parsec) note the parsecs cancel because there is parsec/parsec so you are left with meters.... therefore 8 x 10^13 parsecs x (3.1 x 10^16 meters/ 1 parsec) gives you 2.48 x 10^30 meters !!! simple

8 x 10^13 multiplied by 3.1 x 10^16 = 24.8 x 10^29 or
2.48 x 10^30
