It's down to brains isn't it. If you have got no brains you won't win a prize. The people of Bangladesh have to strive to get out of their poverty and this hard work will see a number of it's citizens achieve great things. The Arabian countries already have a lot of wealth and don't need to try so hard, in fact they can be downright lazy and just lie back in the sun and watch their racehorses go by.It,s all a question of the need to do something.

Because money and religion have no bearing on a country producing a Nobel prize winner. For example Most of us drive cars but Sweden produces the best rally drivers and Italy the best motor cyclists!

Because Arabs are brainwashed from an early age that their life is planned out for them by Allah so they have little ambition or quest for knowledge. Most of their childhood education focuses on the Koran. I have lived and worked with Arabs for several years and they are a very backward culture. They are fortunate indeed to have the oil and gas otherwise they would all be starving third world economies.

well, theorically, this iquestion is wrong , because there is an Arab that got awarded the Nobel Prize, and that is Yasser Arafat (eventhough no one knows in the name of what did he get it). There is the brilliant mind of Nagib Mahfoud, a writer depicting the daily life of the city of Cairo.
On a political scale, Arab leaders are such a disaster that many prefer to escape their regimes and live abroad... but time is a running, an who knows what the future might hold? cheers

Professor Plum didnt mention....
Elias James Corey, Chemistry, 1990, lebanese christian
Peter Medawar, Physiology and Medicine, 1960, 1/2 lebanese christian
Some lebanese christians may object to being called arabs and would prefer phoenician, but lebanon is an arab country and the people are considered "arab"

The Nobel used to mean something but like the Oscars it does not usually mean anything. Jimmie Carter even got one. To answer your question, the muslim religion tends to stifle creativity.

What does a Nobel prize mean anyway? They gave one to Henry Kissenger and he was a mass murderer. Not everyone strives to obtain one. If i don't get one i'm still a failure, in western eyes right! Sounds like you're going to dissapear up your own B.A.C.K.S.I.D.E. soon!

I think Henry Kissinger got one for the US bombing Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. That or his role in the Chilean Coup.

Maybe it's proof that you don't need to be rich to work hard and excel, and be proud of your home country?
