Then why is affirmative action based on race and not income?

I agree, programs designed to help the poor should be color blind, income would be a fair assessment. Affirmative Action was not formed to help the poor, but to help some of the non-white population. Fight rascism in the workplace with reverse rasicm. It does not seem to be working to me.

I am free to choose how I earn my income and when I am not satisfied with my workplace, I am free to change it. Isn't every American?

Affirmative action is based on race on the basis that certain ethnic groups weren't getting the same opportunities as the majority groups and, when they were, it was rarely at an equivalent pay rate.

We need a total system that has fair tax (flat tax at the point of spending), Jobs are earned, and people take responsibility or their actions. Helping people is fine but the system in place now isn't helping people its creating victims.

FYI: Asian did not qualify for affirmative action assistance. They were excluded eventhough they were the minority group at disadvantage.
