why not invent an alternative to oil?
i believe they have an alternative, but are waiting for the oil to run out. what do you think?

there are too many big businesses who thrive on oil economy... more than there is in support of an ecologically-minded fuel source. It is all about where the money is. THe west is NOT the highest and mightiest of Technocracies.

Possibilities such as rapeseed oil (as car fuel) are being explored, and electricity generating methods such as wind, hydro and solar are used on a relatively small scale, but the fact is, oil companies are wealthy enough to be hugely influential of governments and car manufacturers, among others. The oil will have to run out before we have a viable, widely available alternative to it.

Oh they've been working on it however, as much as people like George Bush publicly say it is needed he is also helping to keep it under too. You see, the fat cats who have monetary interests do not want to see an alternative reach the market because it would cut into their profits, which at this point are quite large. And since a number of people in the American government have ties to big business - petroleum being only one of them - they find ways to keep their own position secure at the expense of the environment and the people.

They are gradually developing alternatives, but for now, oil is the best (and cheapest) option.
