This really depends on why your wife has jaundice. Jaundice is typically a condition that results from some sort of illness, such as Hepatitis A or C. If your wife has Hepatits A, there is no need to discontinue nursing. If it is Hepatitis C, the risk of transmission is minimal, but if she is in the acute phase of the illness, she may need to stop nursing temporarily until her symptoms subside. You should discuss this with your wife's doctor and research the particular illness and any medication prescribed before making a decision to stop breastfeeding even temporarily. La Leche League or a lactation consultant can be extremely useful, since doctors are notorious for taking the risk-free approach of assuming that breastfeeding should stop in the midst of the tiniest problem rather than risk being wrong and getting sued. Doctors are actually notorious for being ignorant about breastfeeding. Good luck!
